Guided walking tour
A city walk that takes along Utrecht’s must-see sights. The Utrecht Hotspots tour is the ideal city walk for first-time visitors to Utrecht. Led by an experienced tourist office guide, who takes the group along the hotspots of Utrecht; the places that cannot be missed during a visit to the city. The tour includes the Dom Tower, the Oudegracht canal and its quays, churches with a story to tell and quaint lanes that are less notable. During the tour, the guide will inform about all the historical details, highlighting the rich history of Utrecht city.

Climb the Dom Tower
For more than six centuries, the city and its surroundings have been dominated by the magnificent Dom Tower, the highest medieval building in the Netherlands. This 112 meter high symbol of Utrecht stays with you. Climb 465 steps and you’ll be rewarded with a breathtaking view of the city and the rural beauty beyond it.

DOMunder & Lofen Palace
Grab the smart flashlight and go on an underground discovery full of exciting stories and archaeological treasures. DOMunder is an underground discovery. A visit is an (archaeological) discovery tour. The discovery tours have fixed start times and go first to medieval cellars of Domplein 4, with also wall remains of the Roman fortress ‘Trajectum’.

Combine this with Lofen Palace; ‘birthplace’ of the city and travel through time, back to Utrecht in 1122 when it functioned as the capital of the Netherlands.

Boat tour
The water is the ideal place from which to admire the historical heart of Utrecht. The Oudegracht canal wends its way through the city, passing by countless sights along the way. Mediaeval wash sites, fascinating museums, attractive old buildings: a boattrip gives you a great view of historic Utrecht. Tour Utrecht’s leafy canals, passing by the quays and canalside cellars that are so typical of the city, and admire the imposing Dom Tower from the water.

Discover the city of Amersfoort (including a visit to Mondriaan house)
Walk around the beautiful medieval Amersfoort to experience the rich history. You will go through the unique land and water gate Koppelpoort and see the special Wallhouses. Visit the house where Piet Mondriaan, the famous artist was born. Here you can see a permanent exhibition about Mondriaan’s life as an artist and his work. The museum also contains a full-scale replica of his famous Paris studio. Afterwards you can easily explore the shops and restaurants on your own and take the train back to Utrecht (15 minutes travel time, leaves 4 times per hour).

De Haar Castle
De Haar Castle is the biggest and most luxurious castle in The Netherlands. It is one of the top European historic houses. A visit to De Haar Castle will take you back to the glory days of the castle and will show you the breathtaking splendor that surrounded the international rich and famous in the early 20th century.

National Park Utrechtse Heuvelrug
Explore the magnificent and seemingly infinite scenic areas of the Heuvelrug where you can just let go of all of your thoughts for the moment and relax. The Heuvelrug is a very special unbroken area with a high environmental value. This scenic area is literally in the backyard of millions of Dutch residents and forms the largest connected wooded area in the Randstad. It is distinguished by its profusion and diversity in countryside and culture where people come for recreation, living and entrepreneurship.

The cheese experience in Woerden is the closest you will get to the process of making and storing cheese.
