14. Social Events

It goes without saying that social events are a key component of the EuroVelo Conference. There are countless options for the social program in Utrecht, tailored to the preferences of ECF and our alliance partners regarding the nature of the events, locations, and more.

We have included the social program in our draft budget, but the exact schedule will be determined in consultation with ECF and our alliance partners. For now, we have planned the following social events:

  • Welcome Reception on the day of arrival:
We suggest organizing the welcome reception on the first evening at Jaarbeurs, near the registration area. This location is convenient for visitors and preferable for exhibitors and sponsors as well.
  • Networking Dinner Party:
The networking dinner party is currently planned for Jaarbeurs to keep the ECF community together in a central location for the conference. In consultation with conference partners, we could also organize the dinner at a different venue, depending on the partners’ preferences.
Some recommended locations include (see the blocks on the side):

Various government organizations, such as the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, the Province, and the City of Utrecht, have already indicated that their senior officials would like to attend the dinner (or another EuroVelo event). Additionally, we will offer an entertainment program during the dinner.

  • Closing Event:
Although not mentioned in the bid template, we believe it is important to conclude EuroVelo together with the participants. For example, we could host a closing drink at the Academie Gebouw, the impressive historic building of Utrecht University at Dom Square.
